BAND INFORMATION

Die Jazz Point Dixielandband pflegt den alten Jazz vom kernigen New Orleans
bis hin zum swingendenden Chicago-Stil. Dank Freude, Spontaneität und sehr
grosser musikalischer Erfahrung aus Profizeiten können die Musiker aufeinander
eingehen und somit auch praktisch jeden Zuhörerwunsch erfüllen. JP6 wurde 1991
durch den Posaunisten Matthias Jenny gegründet.


In Jazzkreisen geniesst das Zürcher Dixieland-Sextett Jazz Point ein hohes Ansehen.
Die einzelnen Musiker waren vor der Gründung der Jazz Point in bekannten For-
mationen der Slovakei, England und der Schweiz tätig.
Gründer des Sextettes ist Matthias Jenny (6), welcher Posaune spielt und als Bandleader
das Management betreut. In der Frontline steht ebenfalls Markus Hächler (2)
Seine professionelle Stimme gilt als siebtes Instrument, nebenbei spielt er eine herrliche "Satchmo"-Trompete.
Als bekannter Arrangeur ergänzt Igor Celko (3) die vordere Reihe mit seinem fetzigen und
swingenden Spiel auf seinen verschiedenen Saxophonen.
Eine kompakte Einheit, wie es sich jeder Bandleader wünscht, bildet die Rhytmusgruppe
im "Hintergrund".
Die drei bewährten Musiker haben viele Jahre zusammen gespielt:
Edy Kieser (5) spielt ein sehr virtuoses Banjo. Hans Brunner (4)- der Schlagzeuger, gibt dem
Sextett den unverkennbaren Beat und Jimmy Wettach (1) bearbeitet seinen Bass, aber auch seine Tuba.
mit hoher Präzision und Erfahrung.


Die Jazz Point Dixielandband wurde 1991 gegründet und findet in der heimatlichen Jazzszene
und im nahen Ausland zunehmend Beachtung.

Winner of "the golden Hazy Switzerland"

Jazz Point with its old Jazz from the old New Orleans to the swinging Chicago style.
Thanks to the long experience, the musicians are able to play on request anytime.
In 1991 Jazz Point Dixieland was founded by Matthias Jenny (Trombone).
Throughout the years the band has known only a few changes, so the members
are perfectly on each others wavelength. JP6 brings the original dixieland repertoire,
very often in original own arrangements.

Jazz Point, the Dixieland Sextet near Zurich Switzerland - with an exellent reputation in
Jazz circles.The individual musicians played with famous bands from Slovakia, Great Britain
and Switzerland before they founded Jazz Point Sextet.
Founder of the sextet is Matthias P. Jenny (6), trombone, manager and leader of the band.
On the frontline Mark Haechler (2), trompet. He is playing a wonderful "Satchmo"-trumpet
and his professional voice is the seventh instrument of the band.
The well-known arrangor Igor Celko(3) is completing the frontline with
the swinging and ragging sound of his various saxophones.
The rythm-group in the "background" represents a compact unit: the 3 musicians played together
for many years.
Edy Kieser (5) plays a virtuous banjo.The drummer Hans Brunner (4) is adding the particular beat and
Jimmy Wettach (1) plays his bass full of feeling.

Jazz Point Dixielandband was founded in 1991 and finds mor and more attention in the Jazz Scene
of Switzerland and the surrounding countries.
